Innovation Center Technologies for Health and Foods (IGE)
In the Innovation Center Technologies for Health and Foods of the Technical University (TU) Berlin its members work conjointly at innovative solutions to various research areas of the future-oriented areas health and nutrition. In interdisciplinary research topics and projects it is focused on technological aspects and relations.
Members of more than 50 departments out of 6 faculties of the TU Berlin as well as more than 50 partners from other universities, research institutes and companies are cooperating. Objective of the Innovation Center Technologies for Health and Foods is the pooling of competencies in the areas of health technology, health economy, food science and biotechnology and thereby the creation of synergy effects in research and education. It is aimed to develop the region Berlin-Brandenburg into a model region for nutrition, health and preventive food. The fusion of the strong former Centers CPF (Center for Preventive Food) and ZiG (Center for innovative Health Technology) provided numerous advantages, e.g.:
- wide range of topics in the future-oriented areas health and nutrition
- expertise in all fundamental fields of work
- stronger position in the competition for financial grants and projects
- higher visibility of the TU Berlin
- synergies due to the fusion
Currently, it is focused on up-to-date research topics such as the development of technologies for innovative food and medicare, rehabilitation and communication technologies, monitoring as a method for several processes of medical and food technology as well as the development of tailor-made food and economic questions.
